cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball team sport played between two teams of 11 players. One team bats to score runs, while the other bowls and fields to try to dismiss the batters and limit their score. The team with the most runs at the end of the match wins.
The three main international formats are:
- Test cricket – Played over up to five days, with each team batting twice.
- One Day International (ODI) – Each team bats for up to 50 overs.
- Twenty20 (T20) – Each team bats for up to 20 overs, making it the shortest and fastest-paced format.
Some basic terms:
- Run: The basic unit of scoring.
- Over: A set of six legal deliveries bowled by one bowler.
- Wicket: Can mean either the set of three stumps or the dismissal of a batter.
- Boundary: A shot worth 4 runs if the ball reaches the boundary after bouncing, or 6 runs if it clears the boundary without bouncing.
If you’re interested, I can also:

- teach cricket using football or baseball comparisons,
- explain fielding positions and bowling types, or
- discuss international teams, leagues like the IPL or PSL, and current cricket new
